—– Commercial & Marketing Development Manager —–

Established in 1983 and still privately owned, The Spear Travels Group is one of the UK’s most respected independent travel agencies trading under the Spear Travels and Broads Travel brands. With an annual turnover in excess of £25,000,000, The Spear Travels Group is multi-award winning, including 5 consecutive British Travel Awards 2014-2018 – a unique feat.

We currently operate 12 high street stores in Essex, Dorset, Oxfordshire, West Midlands, Staffordshire and North Yorkshire. In addition, we also operate a home based ‘Associates’ division and the business continues to seek growth opportunities.

The Role:

Reporting to the Group Operations Director, you already possess excellent relationship-building and strategic thinking skills, and you will work to identify new opportunities, working closely with our Tour Operator partners.

In this role, you will utilise your list of travel trade contacts to explore new and exciting partnerships to help us achieve our ambitious plans for growth. You will use your expert communication skills to develop and nurture long lasting, awesome relationships both internally and externally.

You will use your analytical skills to identify new opportunities and effectively influence and communicate with partners and stakeholders at all levels.

Responsibilities include:

Management of the Group’s Marketing strategy and budget.
Manage the Group’s commercial relationships with our Tour Operator partners.
Creating attractive commercial and marketing proposals for the business and our partners to identify new business opportunities and support negotiations.
Sourcing and co-ordinating internal and external customer promotions.
Attending various trade related events & conferences where beneficial to our business.

Skills and Experience:

Ideally you have a minimum of 5 years industry experience – preferably in a commercial or marketing environment.
You will possess a confident personality and be comfortable in presenting when required.
Confident in representing our business at all levels.
Exceptional PC and software skills required plus superior, proven knowledge of creating and maintaining spreadsheets (Excel, Word, Google Docs etc).
